You have to finance where all of the tools are situated and what they can do. When you go used to using one application it takes a while to get used to another application. That one is more of a one trick pony, but is a good option as part of a larger artistic workflow. It is possible to blend two photos together creatively in iColorama and also recently downloaded another application specifically for blending photos which goes by the name of Diana. In this email there was a short tutorial on how to get the best from this application blending two photos together. I haven’t used it is an awful lot but I was prompted by an email I received. It’s an application that’s been languishing on my iPad for some time. I suppose one possibility would be to use one specific effect from an application and then move into something elsewhere you can really let your creativity have full reign.Įnlight iPad art application is now in the list of my favourite applications for creating iPad digital art. Applications like this where you don’t have any ways to blend and manipulate multiple techniques or multiple photos and drawings should be avoided. The sort of applications are a simple application of a filter with no possibilities of making adjustments or masking certain areas off. There are rubbish applications meant for non-artists lacking creativity. The poorer quality iPad art creativity applications are the ones which are basically just filters to apply on top of photos. On the other hand, there are times when we pick something and wonder why the hell we have it on our iPad or iPhone. Sometimes we’ll be delighted and amazed by the other application finding techniques to give our artwork that something special. So it’s a good idea every now and again to put our favourite creativity application to one side and have a look and see what we can do with a different one. Video recorded by the Enlight app as I made changes to the image I started with. It’s always good to stretch the limits of our iPad art creativity with great iPad art applications. Us artists like to think our art is getting better and more interesting with each subsequent piece we work on. We also want our art to grow creatively and to have new looks and styles applied to the finished works. We want our aunt to be original and different from everybody else’s. That’s not a good thing and we really don’t want our artwork to look all the same. I also find that using an application it’s easy to get into a situation where you are constantly using your favourite tools and effects. Especially with an application like iColorama which has such a breadth of tools and options you could spend weeks if not months exploring. I find it’s quite easy to get into a situation where you enjoy using a particular application so much you forget to try some of the others. One of my favourite iPad and iPhone art applications has been iColorama. I am constantly amazed by the quality of the iPad art applications we have available for making innovative, fantastic digital art. He proposed that everything in the universe, including human beings and objects, is composed of tiny, indivisible particles called atoms. Democritus’ impact on Greek philosophy:ĭemocritus, through his atomic theory, significantly influenced Greek philosophy. He also figured out that the space inside a cone is one-third the space inside a cylinder. His atomic theory laid the foundation for understanding the structure of matter and influenced later scientific thought, albeit facing challenges and criticisms from other philosophers of his time.ĭemocritus Contribution: Democritus found that everything in the world is made of tiny, unbreakable parts called atoms. He proposed that the interactions and combinations of these atoms give rise to the diverse forms and substances observed in the world.Ĭentral to his theory was the concept of the void, an empty space where atoms move and combine, forming matter as we perceive it. These atoms, according to Democritus, are eternal, homogeneous, and infinite in number, differing in shape, size, and arrangement. The way atoms were shaped and how big or small they were decided how different things behaved. These atoms moved everywhere and stopped only when they bumped into something. He believed they couldn’t be squished, broken, or destroyed. Democritus’ Atomic Theoryĭemocritus’ atomic theory, developed based on his observations and philosophical reasoning, proposed that everything in the universe is composed of tiny, indivisible particles called atoms.ĭemocritus thought tiny particles called atoms were all the same, like tiny solid balls. Progress in chemistry during this period revealed behaviors of matter that aligned with the idea of it being composed of these minute particles. Originating as a philosophical idea in ancient Greece ( Democritus) and India, it gained scientific recognition in the early 1800s. The concept of atomic theory proposes that matter is made up of tiny individual units known as atoms, rather than being infinitely divisible as previously thought. This theory revolutionized scientific thought by proposing that all matter is composed of tiny, indivisible particles called atoms. His significance lies in formulating the concept of atoms, setting the groundwork for atomic theory. He lived around 460 to 370 BC.ĭemocritus, an ancient Greek philosopher born in Abdera, Thrace, is renowned for his pioneering contributions to the field of natural philosophy. He’s famous for coming up with a theory about atoms in the universe. Here, we are only looking at the amount of these metals in the earth’s crust. How Much Gold, Silver and Platinum Exists on Earth? However, the sale price of rhodium is typically a bit less than that of platinum, and the rest are even less expensive because they are simply less useful. Rhodium, iridium and ruthenium are perhaps the rarest, roughly 1/5 as common as platinum. Silver may be more useful industrially, but it is somewhat less rare, so less precious. Gold and platinum definitely count as contenders for the number one spot. The most expensive are at once very rare and very useful. You can get a good sense for how precious a metal is by comparing it to others on international markets. Whilst some is used in jewellery, the majority of the palladium and platinum produced today is snapped up by automobile manufacturers, to produce catalytic converters.Ī metal must have all three aspects to be precious, and even then some are more precious than others. Gold and silver are highly sought after both as currency, bullion and for making art, but are also vital to the electronics industry. However, modern production techniques relegated it to the status of a common metal.Ī metal might pass both of the other tests, but if it isn’t desired by people, it does not count. Aluminium was once considered a precious metal because it was nearly impossible to refine. Copper, while traditionally used in coinage and jewellery, is far too common to count it as ‘precious’. The amounts of the metal found in the earth’s crust must be quite small. Unstable elements that must be created in a lab (typically by fusing or irradiating other elements) can never count as precious metals. Gold, silver, platinum and even the unusual precious metals like osmium are all metals (in a chemical sense) and naturally occurring. It must be a naturally occurring metallic element There are three areas which are often referenced when discussing precious metals:ġ. Platinum and palladium have international currency codes assigned by ISO, just like gold and silver.īut what makes these metals special? Is it simply their rarity, beauty and utility? What Makes a Metal Precious? However, the platinum group of elements (platinum itself, palladium, iridium, osmium, rhodium and ruthenium) are also important precious metals. The best known precious metals are of course gold and silver, which have both been made into currency and objects of art since before recorded history began.
